Getgo And Charge+ Partner To Scale Up Sustainable Mobility For Condominiums In Singapore

SINGAPORE, 29 July 2024 – GetGo, Singapore’s largest carsharing platform, and Charge+, Singapore’s largest electric vehicle (EV) charging operator, have announced a new partnership to enable greater accessibility to shared and sustainable mobility in Singapore’s condominium market. This exclusive partnership aims to significantly enhance EV accessibility for Singapore’s condominium residents by introducing GetGo’s EVs along with Charge+’s EV charging infrastructure, giving them access to an eco-friendly transportation alternative right at their doorstep. GetGo and Charge+ aim to provide 100 condominiums with combined shared EVs and EV charging points by 2025.

Singapore’s urban landscape is set for a major transformation, due to changing attitudes toward car ownership by younger generations and the development of the EV charging infrastructure. According to a Straits Times survey, car ownership aspirations dropped from 65% in 2016 to 50% in 2022, due to high costs, public transportation improvements, and the rise of convenient and sustainable transportation options like carsharing. In addition, the number of EV charging points across Singapore continues to grow as there are now 7,100 as of July 2024. This growth reflects the continued development of the EV charging infrastructure under the Singapore Green Plan 2030, which includes installing 60,000 EV charging points on public and private premises.

GetGo and Charge+ will leverage their expertise in vehicle fleet management and charging point installation to provide condominium residents with direct access to GetGo’s integrated offering of shared EVs and Charge+’s EV charging infrastructure. This partnership also provides a stronger incentive for condominium management to implement EV charging stations to not only serve the growing EV driver population in condominiums but also to provide on-demand access to GetGo’s shared EVs. This collaboration is aligned with the Singapore Government’s commitment to creating a more sustainable urban environment.

Building on this effort, GetGo will also launch a new feature by Q4 2024 that provides onboarded condominium developers with secured access to carsharing vehicles within their properties that are exclusively for residents. Condominium developers with exclusive access to GetGo’s shared EVs and Charge+’s EV charging points can optimise their parking infrastructures and lot allocation by reducing the number of owned vehicles and carpark lots required.
